In Side Of The Vajina

Konrad Helbig

Konrad Helbig (1917-1988) may, quite rightly, be considered the true heir of the culture of neo-arcadian Wilhelm von Gloeden.
From the beginning he supports his work as tourist guides a growing passion for classical archeology and art history, which manifests itself clearly in his photographs.
Since World War II he spent long periods in Sicily, where works of art depicting landscapes, but most young people there that seem to revive the myth of a pristine culture and Arcadia. In his photographs of the young fishermen reincarnate cheeky charm of classical canons of perfection, and not coincidentally the same photographer had alternated these portraits to images of sculptures and ancient bronzes.
